Program Description
This program provides participants with the skills and knowledge needed to become a professional tractor trailer driver (CDL A). As part of the program, successful candidates will have passed their classroom portion and CDL hands-on skills, pre-trip inspections, parking and backing exercises, and road tests. Upon passing the course, students receive a CDL A license and a certificate of completion of the 172 hour program. State examiners will test students at the end of the course for their hands-on skills test using school vehicles. Once the skills test is passed, the student will receive a CDL A license.n
Skills & Competencies
Students gain specialized skills in shifting/operating manual transmissinos, backing up and docking, space management, vehicle communications, extreme driving conditions, vehicle maintenance, and coupling of the trailers. State examiners will test students at the end of the course for their hands-on skills test using program vehicles. Successful candidates will be issued a CDL Class A License from the state of PA.
