Description of Training Provider

HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, was established in 1964 and is the first and largest of Pennsylvania's 14 community colleges. HACC currently serves nearly 19,000 degree-seeking students and more than 6,000 workforce development students. T

Program Description

Truck Driving is one of the top five careers in the State of Pennsylvania. Driving a Class “B” (Straight Truck over 26,001 lb. GVW) requires a special license. This program provides the student with the preparation, knowledge and skills to pass the CDL driver examination and operate a commercial vehicle safely. Upon successful completion, students will meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) Skills requirement, and be registered on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR). The cost of the program includes the CDL driver examination.

Skills & Competencies

This is not a credit degree program. Please see course description for details on competencies covered. Course prepares students for the CDL exam. Students must receive a minimum of an 80% on the CDL Theory final exam before being permitted to enroll in the Class B Behind-the-Wheel hands-on training portion and achieve 85% attendance to receive a HACC certificate of completion.

  • Particular Course Prerequisites Age 18 for intrastate & 21 for interstate trucking. Valid U.S Driver's License & Class “B” permit. Pass a DOT physical & drug screen. Pass PennDOT CDL Class “B” knowledge test at least 1 week prior to beginning the behind-the-wheel training.
