Fayette County Career & Technical Institute Adult Education Programs

Program Description

The 120 hour Adult Evening Patient Care Assistant program is designed to enable a student to gain nurse related knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully gain employment in a healthcare organization. The 40-hour theory, 25- hour skills lab and 55 hour-clinical in either a nursing facility or hospital. The student will learn infection control, safety techniques, personal care provided in an abusive & ethical manner, restorative care, understand behavioral health issues and death and dying; CPR is also included in this program.

Skills & Competencies

Patient Career Assistant students are instructed in the role of a nurse aide/assistant in all healthcare organizations. The student learn infection control techniques, safety techniques for both the student and the patient/resident, restorative care in keeping the patient at their maximum level of care, behavioral health issues to help the student in understanding changes in mental health death and dying and CPR.
