The YCST Dental Assistant Program prepares students for employment in the dental industry. Dental Assistants set up equipment, prepare patients for treatment, and maintain patient records. Students completing this program will be able to sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up trays, prepare materials, and assist the dentist during dental procedures. Students will learn to record treatment information in patient records, expose dental diagnostic X-rays, take and record medical and dental histories and vitals signs of patients, instructor patients in oral hygiene techniques, and assist dentists in management of dental emergencies.
