Description of Training Provider

Fayette County Career & Technical Institute Adult Education Programs

Program Description

The collision repair technology program is a 900-day course dedicated to training the student in the art of collision repair and refinishing. The program will offer theory and hands-on training including damage analysis, body repair and refinishing. The course materials will include the removal of dents and imperfections in sheet metal, methods or refinishing, replacement of windshields, types of finishes and replacement of damaged parts.  Also included in the course are PA State Inspection, PA Emissions, OSHA 10 General Industry and MACS 609.

Skills & Competencies

Skills taught but not limited to metal finishing. The use of correct body fillers; glass and hardware replacement and installation; structure component repair and damage analysis; structural straightening; correction protection; safety; vehicle design and construction; panel replacement and alignment; trim and hardware; introduction to welding for collision repair; setting processes; surface preparation; refinishing and equipment; automotive finishes; surface preparation; refinishing equipment and paint area; refinishing operations; detailing; estimating damage analysis.   Also included is the MAC EPA 609, PA State Inspection; PA Emissions and OSHA 10 General Industry.
