Program Description

The classes are designed to provide students with the necessary skills to secure entry-level positions such as medical biller/coder, medical billing/coding specialist, certified medical coder, remote outpatient coding positions in coding and billing services, medical practices, and insurance companies. This is a hybrid delivery method. The class will meet twice per week with an instructor at South Hills State College Campus. The remaining portion of the course is online.

Skills & Competencies

The Medical Coding & Billing students have a foundation of knowledge in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, the principles related to proper claim form preparation, submission and payment processing, and the follow-up process. Medical coding professionals specialize in ICD-10-CM diagnosis and HCPCS/CPT procedure coding.
