Description of Training Provider
Lackawanna College is approved by the Pennsylvania State Department of Education to grant degrees and is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Program Description
This 26 week dual program provides the skills needed to enter one of the fastest-growing fields in allied health while also providing valuable Microsoft Office Certifications.
Students will gain hands-on, practical experience working with the main coding manuals in the field, the ICD-10-CM and the CPT. They will also master the legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts that are central to this field. Upon completion, each individual will be ready to begin a career in an entry-level position. Students will also be prepared to take the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) national certification exam offered by National Health Career Association (NHA). This course will also provide you with key information about medical terminology systems and medical coding components. In this area, students will gain the required knowledge with coding manuals in the field. You will also be introduced to the new ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding system as you master the legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts that are central to this field.
The Microsoft Office Certification Prep will fast track students who are proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access to CERTIFY in each application by using a combination of software practice exams and instruction. These stackable credentials are preferred for future workforce opportunities.
