Program Description
Nurse Aide Training Diploma program offers a PA Dept. of Education (contact: Sheri Weidman 717-783-6974) and Private Licensed Schools (contact: Jenny Piper 717-783-8228) approved training. Half of the program takes place in a classroom and half in a clinical setting in a nursing home. Students will learn the 24 skills necessary to become a nurse aide. These include: hand washing, ambulation, assist client with use of bedpan, cleans and stores dentures, counts and records radial pulse & respirations, dresses resident with affected right arm, feeds client who cannot feed self, gives bed bath, makes an occupied bed, measures and records blood pressure & temp, measures and records urinary output, measures and records weight, performs range of motion, repositions client in bed, provides catheter care, fingernail care, foot care, mouth care, provides perineal care for the incontinent client, puts elastic stockings on client, and transfers client from bed to wheelchair
