Description of Training Provider

Vocational Technical School

Program Description

Course Start Date: Late August to first week in June (18 month program for full time students) Course runs Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (51/2 hours per day) (1 hour lunch). Certificate from Beaver County Career & Technology Center. The Collision Repair Technology program prepares students for entry level employment in the Collision Repair field. Instruction involves training in safety, mig-welding, plasma cutting, using cutting torches, body and fender repair, hand tool use, power tools and power jack equipment for structure alignment and refinishing. Body panel repair will include rust repair, panel fabrication and replacement, dent repair, pulling and shrinking, metal finishing and filling. Instruction is also given in auto trim removal and installation and repair, plastic identification, plastic repair/replacement and refinishing. Paint related instruction will include safety, paint preparation, up-to-date paint gun operation, training with several different substrates for priming, sealing, and resurfacing. Paint training will include paint booth safety and operation, health related awareness, instruction on paint techniques for panel, overall and blending of base and clear-coat systems, paint mixing and formulation, trouble shooting of paint failure and remediation. Instruction includes hazardous waste management and safety.
