Program Description
Electrician Technology Certificate Program is a 15-month program consisting of four quarters of instruction and one-quarter of internship. The program provides hands-on training necessary to gain an entry-level position as an electrical technician. Areas of training in the program include knowledge of safety, OSHA and NFPA standards; knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC); understanding of single phase residential circuits and three phase commercial wiring circuits; building and troubleshooting basic industrial controls; understanding of electrical tools, test equipment, and blueprints.
Skills & Competencies
In our Electrician Technology Certificate program, you’ll gain a working knowledge of safety, OSHA 30 certification, and NFPA 70E, National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection, and electrical safety standards.
You’ll learn to:
Install basic single-phase residential wiring circuits and all basic single and three-phase commercial wiring circuits to meet the NEC code.
Read construction blueprints.
Use various electrical tools, plus measuring and test equipment.
Troubleshoot residential and commercial electrical circuits, and build and troubleshoot basic industrial systems.
You’ll work in professional labs designed to resemble residential, commercial, and industrial spaces by an experienced professional electrician to be as real-world as it gets. It’s a unique program that integrates practical electronics into the curriculum, covering digital & analog circuits in addition to wiring.
You will also be introduced to the important tasks of project management and estimating.
