Program Description
Gain the theoretical knowledge and hands-on application necessary to adjoin similar and dissimilar metals, and perform a variety of other tasks associated with welding. Be prepared for entry-level welding positions in manufacturing and industrial firms, construction, fabrication shops, and building/construction trade unions.
Topics include:
- Occupational orientation and safety
- Principles of welding
- Welding print reading
- Hands on application with choice of one process toward D1.1 certification attempt on 1” plate.
- Choice of process:
Option 1: GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding/MIG)* or
Option 2: GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding/TIG)* or
Option 3: SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding/Stick) or
Option 4: FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding)
*MIG and TIG options with instructor recommendation
