Description of Training Provider

The Community College of Allegheny County prepares individuals to succeed in a complex global society by providing affordable access to high quality career and transfer education delivered in a diverse, caring, and innovative learning environment.

Program Description

This program is designed to prepare students who have work experience in building construction for advancement to positions of management. Students will study the numerous building construction phases to develop an overview and understanding of the building construction industry. Coursework focuses on commercial construction applications and evolving green technology. Classes are scheduled in the evenings and weekends to allow students an opportunity to work in the building construction field while obtaining their degree.

Skills & Competencies

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

Apply skills for employment as a foreman, superintendent, estimator, expediter, scheduler and project manager in employment with building construction.
Read and utilize blue prints, building construction materials and methods used on a construction site from ground breaking to completion.
Estimate and quote building construction projects.
Apply leadership, communication and problem-solving techniques by planning work flow and control scheduling sequence of construction projects.
