Program Description
This program provides the skills needed to enter one of the fastest-growing fields in allied health. Gain hands-on, practical experience working with the main coding manuals in the field, the ICD-10-CM and the CPT. You will also master the legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts that are central to this field. Upon completion, you will be ready to begin your career in an entry-level position. Students will also be prepared to take the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) national certification exam offered by National Health Career Association (NHA). This course will provide you with key information about medical terminology systems.
With the Medical Coding component, you will gain additional skills as a medical coding specialist including experience with the main coding manuals in the field. You will also be introduced to the new ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding system as you master the legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts that are central to this field.
