Program Description
The 120- hour Adult Evening Nurse Aide program is designed to enable a student to gain nurse related knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully pass the PA Nurse Aide competency exam and gain employment in a healthcare organization. The class consists of 40-hours of theory, 25-hours of skills lab and 55-hours in a clinical nursing facility. The course material includes infection control, safety techniques, personal care provided in an abusive & ethical free manner, restorative care, understanding death and dying. CPR Training is included in the class.
Skills & Competencies
The students are instructed in the role of a Nurse Aide/Assitant in all healthcare organizations. The student will learn infection control techniques, safety techniques for both the student and the patient/resident, personal care provided in a safe and abusive free manner, how the change in the body systems affect the care needed for the patient/resident, restorative care in keeping the patient at their maximum level of care, behavioral health issues to help the student in understanding death and dying. The student will also be certified in CPR.
