Description of Training Provider

CTE High School with Adult Education programs

Program Description

This 121–hour training program prepares students to perform patient/resident care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The course includes 47.5 hours of classroom theory, 29 hours of lab/skill, and 44.5 hours of clinical experience at a local, long–term care facility. After completion, adult learners will have the opportunity to take the nurse aide certification exam to earn their CNA Certification.  Nurse Aides are in high demand. They are the front line to patient care. Ask us about the opportunity for full tuition reimbursement for all adult learners who successfully achieve their CNA.

Skills & Competencies

In compliance with Regulation Section 483.152 of OBRA and Section 3 of Act 14, a student must complete a minimum of 16 hours of instruction in the following five content areas: Communication, Role and Function, Infection Control, Safety/Emergency and Promotion of Client’s Rights & Independence before any students has resident contact. Other content areas include Nutrition, Personal Care Skills, Identify and Report Conditions of Body Systems, Restorative Care, Behavioral Health, Care for the Cognitavely Impaired, and Caring for the Client when Death is Imminent. 

The program consists of 44 hours of clinical experience located in a facility licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a long-term care facility.  Clinical assignments progressively introduce the students to basic nursing skills, starting with a less dependent care resident-then the assignment will progress to a more dependent care resident.
