Description of Training Provider

Pennsylvania Western University (PennWest ) is western PA's second largest university. Composed of three sister institutions that are steeped in history, tradition, and academic excellence, it embodies the best of the part and the promise of the future.

Program Description

The Professional Science Master's in Cybersecurity provides professionals with specialized knowledge in cybersecurity and related skillsets to meet the demands and challenges of economic and infrastructure security in a high-technology society. The curriculum emphasizes both fundamental knowledge in current cybersecurity practices and management/leadership abilities. Cybersecurity involves the technologies, processes and practices designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. The global cybersecurity market has grown rapidly, reaching $75 billion in 2015. It's expected to hit $170 billion in 2020, according to Forbes. PSM cybersecurity students benefit from the capstone project to apply knowledge and solve real problems in the workplace. Cybersecurity students work with a business or other entity to identify a problem, design a solution and effectively communicate the working solution to the company or entity, and to the PSM cybersecurity faculty. Students are working with such firms as MUFG Union Bank, PTC, Cloudcast Computing, Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation, Allegheny County Property Assessments, University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University. Complete the 30-credit program in just four semesters.

Skills & Competencies

The graduate Cybersecurity PSM degree will provide the student with an understanding of cybersecurity programs, computer security, and legal issues surrounding the industry. It will also prepare students to plan for and recognize cybersecurity attacks and viruses. Professional skills courses in leadership and project management are also in this program.
