Description of Training Provider

Workforce Development, non-credit division of Butler County Community College. Program offerings include Certificate Programs and Professional Education for CEUs or licensing renewal.

Program Description

This workforce development course will help the students develop and/or upgrade the industry skills that are necessary or required for basic nursing care under the supervision of a licensed nurse and obtain entry level positions in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, physician’s offices, long-term care and home health. The skills that will be developed and/or upgraded by this course are: 1. Anatomy and Physiology 2. Medical Terminology 3. OSHA/Infection Control 4. Medical Law and Ethics 5. Patient Care Skills 6. Pharmacology 7. EKG 8. Phlebotomy After this course, the student will have the ability to obtain EKG readings and monitor vital signs, perform phlebotomy procedures, assist with critical day-to-day care required by some patients, perform safety checks and ensure cleanliness in patient rooms, accommodate the special needs of patients accordingly and provide emotional support to patients, and families.
