Program Description

As a valuable member of the dental health care team, dental assistants take on significant responsibilities, which greatly increase the efficient delivery of oral health care. Dental assistants work directly with dentists and perform a wide range of tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. CPI s Dental Assistant Program is 900 hours (160 clinical). The program includes classroom, lab and clinical experiences. Upon successful completion and work requirement, graduates are eligible to take the Dental Board exam, which leads to licensure as a Certified Dental Assistant. The curriculum for this program will also help prepare students for their EFDA (Expanded Function) certification.

Skills & Competencies

Full dental assistant competencies. Program is aligned to prepare students for their Certified Dental Assistant credential (students must meet work requirement prior to taking their CDA exam). Components of CPI's Dental Assistant Program include radiography, general practice, and infection control.
