Program Description
The program facilitates career exploration through a combination of hands-on activities, individual counseling, and visits to the training sites. Upon completion, program participants have the option of applying for an apprenticeship to their choice of skilled trades. Throughout the program, students are mentored to help them build and increase job readiness/retention, prepare for apprentice exams, and soft skills necessary for competitive union positions and remain successful throughout their careers. Course activities include field trips to state of the art union training facilities, exposure to (19) trades, apprentice programs, and meeting professional in various fields of the construction industry. The intensive 5-6 week program provides participants with an opportunity to reflect on their interest and talents before committing to the path of apprenticeship. Guaranteed placement is offered upon successful completion of the program.
