Program Description

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that job opportunities for diesel mechanics will continue to increase both statewide and nationally through 2026. Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) offers a 200-hour introductory Diesel Truck Technician Program that prepares students with the industry skills and certifications they need to enter this growing field. Students in the Diesel Truck Technician Program at LCTI are prepared to enter the workforce with the necessary technical expertise to succeed. This program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to the specialized maintenance and repair of trucks, buses, and other commercial and industrial vehicles. Core instruction includes basic diesel technology skills, preventative maintenance inspections, drive trains, suspension, steering, brake, and electronic systems.
At the completion of the Diesel Truck Technician Program, students are enrolled into the next available Tractor Trailer Class A 150-hour course to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, preferred by most employers.  CDL training includes manual transmission trucks, driver skill development, applied safety regulations and procedures, equipment maintenance, proper loading techniques, intra- and inter-state regulations and one student per truck driver training.
