Program Description

This course starts Sept 4, 2019. The Welding Certificate Course is held in the evening and consists of theory and hands-on lab instruction 2 nights per week for three hours each night. The course is made up of three classes of basic welding to advanced welding. Students cover the fundamental concepts, the welding process, welding terms, metal identification, safety and tools. The course provides practice in the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process and custom instruction in one of the following areas; Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) or oxyacetylene welding. The course also covers the appropriate safety instruction, set-up, metal preparation and blueprint reading. After the conclusion of the class, students will have the opportunity to take the appropriate American Welding Society (AWS) certification test(s) in Shielded Metal Arc Welding and/or Gas Metal Arc Welding.
