Program Description
The program provides and prepares students, who are new to the IT industry or are upgrading an existing skill set, with the core technical ability required to build a sustainable career in IT. The program includes IT training to develop competencies in the basics of computer hardware, software, mobile computing, networking, troubleshooting, and emerging technologies. These competencies will allow to troubleshoot software, fix operating system issues, rebuild computers, and perform general maintenance on computer devices. The program is designed to help students prepare for certifications in A+ and the Network+ administered by CompTIA. The program will also provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform day-to-day administrative tasks in a single or multiple domain Microsoft Windows Server based network.
The program will prepare students for positions as a Computer User Support Specialist, Computer Systems Analyst, Call Center Support, Customer Service Representative, Technical Support Specialist, Help Desk Technician, PC Technician, Desktop Support Technician, Network Support Technician and Computer Network Support Specialist.
Skills & Competencies
Part 1 A+ Comprehensive: CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for establishing a career in IT and the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles. Throughout this course, with hands on experience, students are prepared to troubleshoot, problem solve, and understand a wide variety of issues ranging from networking and operating systems to mobile devices and security. A+ supports the ability to connect users to the data they need to do their jobs regardless of the devices being used.
Part 2 Net+ Networking Fundamentals: Provides the fundamentals of networking by giving hands-on training in networking skills and concepts that affect many aspects of networking. Will cover such topics as: basic networking, protocols, network devices, TCP/IP architecture, internet addressing, subnetting, routing, servers, remote connectivity, user management, network security, encryption and firewalls, troubleshooting and diagnostic tools. Network+ is widely accepted as a prerequisite course for Cisco CCNA and Microsoft Certifications.
Part 3 Microsoft Server Administration: Taught the skills necessary to work in a cross platform or mixed Windows server environment. Students will have the skills necessary to implement, deploy, manage, maintain, and provision a Windows Server Infrastructure, with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Hyper-V services. Instruction is provided on supporting, installing, and troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems.
