Description of Training Provider

2 year Technical College Continuing Education Department

Program Description

This course is designed to provide necessary knowledge and skills for an entry- level welder. OXY- fuel gas tungsten arc (TIG), Gas Metal Arc (MIG), Shielded Metal Arc (Stick ) processes are taught with theory and hands-on practice. Additional lectures are given on basic metallurgy, welding codes and welding symbols.

Skills & Competencies

Understand and practice safety in all aspects of welding and cutting operations.
Set up and operate Oxy - fuel equipment to perform groove and filet welds in the flat and horizontal positions. Read and interpret welding symbols. Understand the metallurgy of common alloys.
