Program Description
The objective of this program is to provide sufficient training to prepare the student for passing grades on both the written and practical CDL examination. The program includes 44 hours driving time and 106 hours of academic class. The program has an Industry Recognized Certificate given at the end of the 150 clock hours. At the end of this course, the student will be able to obtain an entry-level position in the trucking industry. This program is for someone who has never driven a combination vehicle and would require the full course in order to get hired by a national carrier.
Skills & Competencies
Preparation for CDL Permit Test. Basic skills needed to operate a commercial vehicle and enter an entry level position with carriers. The program offers Basic Operation, Safe Operating Practices, Advanced Operating Practices, Vehicle Maintenance, Non-Vehicle Activities. The CDL A Examination will be conducted by Sage upon completion of the 150 clock hours.
This includes 86 hours of classroom instruction, 20 hours of lab instruction, 24 hours of skills instruction, 20 hours of road instruction, and 4 hours for the CDL exam. This totals 150 clock hours. The 44 hours in the truck are 1:1 instruction with no observation time. The student will receive a CDL A license at the successful completion of the 4-hour Practical Examination.
This Program satisfies the new FMCSA mandated ELDT and BTW requirements, effective February 7, 2022.
Job placement assistance is offered to our students and assistance in completing applications on line in our resource area.
