The Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology is a vocational/technical school offering evening and full time adult education courses and certifications

Program Description

This course provides students with an introduction to basic machining including shop safety and operation of a variety of common machines. Students will learn different types of cut-off machines, drill presses, pedestal, surface, and cylindrical grinders, lathe, and vertical and horizontal milling machines.

Textbook theory, proper use of protective equipment, safe operation of hand and power tools as they relate to machining, knowledge of metallurgy, setup and operation of machining equipment, including mills and lathes, drill presses, and grinders
