The Culinary Arts major is an intensive, twelve-month program that prepares students for entry-level positions in the food service industry. This curriculum teaches essential skills needed in today’s kitchens. The students spend over fifty percent of their training receiving hands-on instruction couples with feedback from the chef instructors. There is strong emphasis on food safety and culinary math throughout the entire course. Students who have met the American Culinary Federation certification criteria in their Food Safety, Nutrition, and Supervision courses will receive a certificate in each course toward certification. Most students are able to work for restaurants, hotels, clubs, resorts, caterers, universities, hospitals, upscale grocery stores, casinos, and cruise ships/riverboats once they graduate.
