Regional Accreditation with program accreditation for many majors.
Program Description
This program prepares students to assist in the implementation of treatment programs in accordance with the plan of care established by a physical therapist. Coursework is designed in accordance with guidelines of the American Physical Therapy Association's Model Curriculum for PTA Education, and in consideration of contemporary practice. The program meets the requirements of accreditation set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. The curriculum consists of a balance of liberal studies, science, and technical courses. Three full-time clinical education courses provide an opportunity for students to transition from the classroom/lab setting into the clinical environment. Clinical sites available represent a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehab centers, nursing homes, sports medicine clinics and pediatric settings. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are required to take the National Physical Therapy Examination to practice as a PTA in all states.
