100 hour Nurse Aide Competency course. Upon completion, graduates receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to take the Pearson Vue Competency Test. Successful candidates are placed on the PA Nurse Aide Registry.
Skills & Competencies
Competencies and skills that meet OBRA and Act 14 regulations. The competency/skills include but are not limited to: 1. Introduction to Health Care (i.e. Role and Function of Nurse Aide, Communication skills, Infection Control, etc.) 2. Basic Nursing and Personal Care Skills (i.e. nutrition, body systems, personal care skills, etc.) 3. Restorative Care (i.e. Basic Restorative Services) 4. Behavioral Health and Social Service Needs (i.e. Psychosocial characteristics of various populations being served in the nursing facility) 5. Care of cognitively impaired residents (i.e. basic principles of validation therapy and other intervention strategies).
