Description of Training Provider
The Manufacturing Assistance Center (MAC), part of the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Has been in operations for over 25 years. Starting as a shared manufacturing space, the MAC offers classes in machining to people looking
Program Description
The student will enter the first 6 week program to receive training in different aspects of machining, including print reading, hand tool use, manual mill, manual lathe, grinder and band saw. The students will then enter the next 6 weeks to focus on learning g-code to program Computer Numerical Control (CNC) mill and lathe. The final 6 weeks will be an instructor led course with independent study, to program projects through the use a CAD/CAM program - Mastercam.
Skills & Competencies
Safety, measurements, hand tools, print reading, speeds and feeds, manual mills, grinder, lathe and band saw. G-code programming, CNC mill, CNC lathe operations and CAD/CAM (Mastercam).
