Description of Training Provider

Fayette County Career & Technical Institute Adult Education Programs

Program Description

The electrical program takes a broad based training approach to prepare students for employment in the electrical field. Through hands-on training and classroom instruction, students learn electrical trade practices in residential, commercial, industrial fields in accordance with the National Electrical Code. From layout and assembly to installation, testing and maintenance of power systems, this program consists of a broad-based training and classroom instruction. Specialty areas such as installation of high voltage lines and electrical distribution systems are also covered. The curriculum for the electrical program is based on the PA Program of Study. (POS).

Skills & Competencies

This course prepares the students to in the electrical occupations in installing, diagnosing and repairing residential, commercial and industrial applications. Also taught is electrical theory; AC/DC circuitry and wiring applications. Textbook theory demonstrates proper use of proactive equipment, safe use of power tools and hand tools, blueprint reading, anchor and supports, residential cabling technology, switches & receptacle circuits, fixtures, raceways, wired devices, testing equipment, installation of electrical service. The students will receive an OSHA 10 certification and have forklift training.
