Description of Training Provider
SCTC provides secondary and post-secondary technical training programs and is approved by the PA Dept. of Education, The PA Board of Nursing, and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Program Description
The course will provide basic welding skills with intensive hands-on training in metal arc, MIG, and TIG welding. Students learn theory, blueprint reading, layout and project design techniques.
Skills & Competencies
Welding Technology students will learn to design, fabricate, and repair various items made from metal. The students will learn the skills necessary to safely perform SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), GMAW (gas metal arc welding), FCAW (flux core arc welding), GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), OFC (oxyfuel cutting), PAC (plasma arc cutting), and ACAC (air carbon arc cutting).
