Sage/Lebanon County Career School is a Pa. Department of Education, Privately Licensed School. We are PTDI Certified. We offer three levels of Class A CDL Tractor Trailer Driver training, and a CDL Class B Straight Truck program. We also offer Individua

Program Description

This program is offered to students who have had some driving experience with a CDL Class A license, have not driven a tractor-trailer in over 5 years, and the carrier requires more training than a Refresher in order to be hired. The objective is to provide the students with all the basic knowledge and skills necessary to obtain an entry-level position in the trucking industry. The length and nature of experience will be assessed by the staff. A Diploma is issued at the end of the program. They will be provided with a Certificate of Road Form which states they can properly operate the tractor-trailer.

Skills & Competencies

The student will learn the basic skills needed to operate a commercial vehicle and attain an entry-level position in the trucking industry.
The program offers Basic Operation, Safe Operating Practices, Advanced Operating Practices, Vehicle Maintenance, Non-Vehicle Activities, and preparation for the CDL A permit. The student must complete 42 hours of classroom and ELDT online training, 4 hours of lab instruction, 20 hours of skill instruction, 12 hours of road instruction, and Road Test if necessary. The road instruction is 1:1 and the skills are 2:1.
The instructor will perform the Certificate of Road examination, which clearly indicates whether the student can perform safe operating practices in the A vehicle.
In some instances, the student has allowed their license to lapse and would require a full CDL A Examination on site, instead of the Certificate of Road.
Job placement assistance is available for this program as well as assistance in filling out carrier applications on line in our resource area. This program is designed for the student to reinstate their Class A CDL at the end of the 80 hours of the course and passing the on-site examination by our Third Party examiner.
This Program satisfies the new FMCSA mandated ELDT and BTW requirements, effective February 7, 2022.
