Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC), located at 1620 River Road, just off Interstate 80 in Central Pennsylvania, is a technical educational institution founded in 1968 to meet the needs of the community and six secondary sending schools

Program Description

Competency based program providing classroom instruction and laboratory work covering the maintenance, repair, and adjustment of diesel engines with emphasis on troubleshooting tune-up and the overhaul of diesel engines. Tool use, mechanical adjustments, part replacement, diesel starting, internal combustion engines, fuel injection, hydraulics and electrical systems are included.

Skills & Competencies

Diesel Mechanics teaches students how to maintain and repair heavy duty trucks and equipment. This course also does work on both Diesel and Gasoline engines. Students learn to do all kinds of different skills, which include troubleshooting and complete repair work. They also may specialize in one or two key areas of repair or maintenance. Areas of Instruction Tools Used: Mechanic Tools Machine Tools Welding Equipment Flame Cutting Equipment Common Hand Tools Test Equipment What are the benefits? The benefits are endless with career as a diesel equipment mechanic. These types of engines are not only seen in pick-ups and larger trucks, but they are now being seen in lighter vehicles as well. Jobs are increasing daily in this field. Students can attain their PA Inspection Mechanic Certification, Brake Certification and OSHA certification.
