Program Description
Certificate Program: 1/2 Day Attendee - 2 years to complete Full Day Attendee - 9 months to complete. Course Start – End of August Course End – Beginning of June Contact for Exact Start/End Dates Course runs Monday thru Friday,11:45a.m. to 2:30p.m.). Certificate from the Beaver County Career & Technology Center The Machine Tool Technology program trains students to use metal working machine tools to cut, shape, and grind metal to precise forms, sizes, and specifications. The Machine Tool Technology program includes machine tool programming and operation, trade theory, and blueprint reading. The BCCTC has a state-of-the-art machine shop that includes the very latest computer numerically controlled machine tools and software. Students learn the safe and proper procedures to set up and operate the machines and tools of the trade. Instruction is also given in precision measurement accurate to 1/30 the thickness of a human hair. Opportunities in precision metalworking have greatly expanded. Many of our higher achieving students have been awarded machinist apprenticeships sanctioned by the PA Department of Labor and Industry before graduation. A NIMS Certification is also offered in the program.
