Description of Training Provider
We are a school that teaches Commercial Truck Driving, Welding, and Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Refrigeration. The school is accredited by ACCSC.
Program Description
This course introduces the fundamental concepts and techniques involved with the flux core arc welding process, safety hazards and proper procedures, equipment assembly, electrical theory and machine selection, maintenance and repair, safety testing, and the production of quality groove and fillet welds in the 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 1F, 2F, 3F, and 4F positions. Students will develop a theoretical understanding of the FCAW process, and then build upon that foundation through practical experience in the laboratory where a variety of welding techniques will be taught through practical exercise and reinforced through self and peer inspection.
Skills & Competencies
Industry recognized certificate/certification proper safety procedures for FCAW. Describe the properties of various shielding gas mixtures as well as their effect on the final weld. Demonstrate assembly, minor repairs, and maintenance on FCAW equipment. Describe FCAW welding and fabrication techniques. Produce quality fillet welds in the 1F, 2F, 3F, and 4F positions within a limited thickness range on carbon steel. Produce quality groove welds in the 3G and 4G positions within a limited thickness range on the carbon steel. Visually inspect welds for potential discontinuities, repair welds, and correct issues prior to continuing welding. Produce quality groove and fillet welds using FCAW-S.
