Job Description

Staff Accountant

Wyman Gordon Pennsylvania (WGPA) is a flash welding operation headquartered in Mountaintop, PA. WGPA is a part of the Wyman-Gordon division of Precision Castparts Corporation, the world leader in structural investment castings, forged components, and airfoil castings for aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines.

WGPA is seeking a full-time, entry level Staff Accountant that will be responsible for performing several accounting duties including transactional processing, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and other general accounting and reporting responsibilities in a Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain ownership of the plant's accounts payable process:
Input invoices into the ERP system and ensure valid two-way or three-way matches, clearing all exceptions as necessary
Process cash disbursements to vendors and work to migrate all vendors to ACH payments
Perform quarterly searches for unrecorded liabilities
Review and manage unvouchered payables and work with purchasing and receiving to clear items timely
Prepare monthly logs of manual checks and payment registers for approval
Compile monthly accounts payable input data, including aging of payables, intercompany payable balances, vouchered cost of sales, and related party payables
Ensure compliance with non-standard terms policies for vendors and complete quarterly reviews with purchasing of the vendor master file
Review monthly purchasing card statement reconciliations and employee expense reports and record relevant transactions in the general ledger
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to cash balances, non-inventory related intercompany transactions, prepaid asset amortizations, liability accruals, and revert sales
Participate in the month-end close process and required reporting
Confirm monthly balances with intercompany partners
Serve as the backup accounts receivable processor
Perform other journal entries, tasks, and reports as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred, although Bachelor's Degree in Finance with strong Accounting understanding will be considered
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Must be able to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
Must be able to complete work accurately and timely to meet strict deadlines
Must possess communication skills to interact with various departments, including operations
1-2 years of experience in a staff accountant-type role is a plus
Public accounting experience is a plus
