This role can be based out of Wilkes Barre, PA/Williamsport, PA/Wellsboro, PA

Summary:

To complete assigned engineering work, primarily involving the existing distribution system and its facilities in situations affected by physical conditions, pressure, and/or roadway construction activity. Research and design potential additions and modifications to the distribution system utilizing budgeted and allocated resources in an effective, efficient and professional manner, and in compliance with applicable Codes and Company policies and goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise necessary for the continued development and maintenance of Gas Network modeling program Prepare written report from the results for system replacement projects and marketing projects.
  • Review roadway construction plans from the State, municipalities, contractors and/or developers for conflicts and/or needed system maintenance to be done in coordination with proposed construction activity.
  • Assist in the annual preparation of the Capital Construction Budget as well as implementation and substitution as required.
  • Communicate and internally coordinate workload priorities, C&M installation concerns, project manpower requirements, materials procurement, permit application, etc. regarding the design and implementation of projects.
  • Assist in the development of Engineering Personnel via training, education, and motivation of staff as well as providing Engineering support to respective Operational areas, as required.
  • Develop bare steel replacement program for Northern Region. This includes system analysis for system simplification, constructability, and scheduling. Work with the various operating districts and departments to implement program from construction resource, material, and personnel planning perspective.
  • Complete all other work assignments and special projects as directed by the Manager Area Engineering.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable Federal (DOT), State (PUC), and local codes and regulations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong computer skills.
  • Proficient in plan and specification development related to natural gas construction
  • Proficient skills in decision making and problem solving
  • Proficient in project and program management
  • High pressure design and construction experience

Qualifications:

  • A four year college engineering degree is required.
  • Five years in natural gas design and/or construction

Successful applicants shall be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment, and if hired, shall be subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with UGI policies.
