THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institute (SCI) at Mahanoy is seeking a dedicated and positive individual to provide clerical support for the overall operation of the superintendent's office. If you have a strong interest in clerical work, this may be the position for you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a confidential secretary to the superintendent at SCI Mahanoy, you will screen all phone calls directed to the superintendent; handle contacts with the public, staff members, and public officials in a prompt and courteous manner; and maintain the superintendent's calendar, which includes scheduling all appointments and meetings.

In this role, you will attend and take all meeting minutes held at the direction of the superintendent, including weekly administrative staff meetings, monthly department head meetings, and eastern region superintendents' meetings when held at this institution. You will also type all correspondence originating from the superintendent, as well as gather information to type reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment (37.50 hours per week)
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or
One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirement:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
You must pass a background investigation.
