Purpose/Scope:

Enable the effective execution of daily operations by reviewing upcoming production documentation to ensure that the plant has the materials, tooling and methods needed, as well as to identify and implement improvements that benefit plant Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Work with Sales and Project Management in the evaluation of new jobs as they relate to manufacturing challenges- and provide feedback via Internal Review Sheets (IRS), Very Important Processes (VIP) and Special Work Authorizations (SWA)
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure that materials for production, are available and prepared in accordance with safety, quality, and efficiency requirements
  • Provide documented feedback to Engineering and work with Scheduling to ensure cast-book accuracy and to assure a schedule that improves safety, quality, delivery and cost performance
  • Serve as an automation system super-user, capable of trouble-shooting, training others and developing improvements to the system
  • Evaluate all products and processes for manufacturability and improvement opportunity. Exercise and share best practices company-wide
  • Lead and participate in methodical problem-solving efforts and Kaizen teams
  • Support Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) activity
  • Participate in the design, development, installation and debugging of equipment and processes
  • Develop process documentation such as work instructions, standard work and job breakdowns
  • Assist all departments and perform other tasks as needed


Basic Qualifications:

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 yrs. manufacturing experience in a technical or leadership capacity
  • 3-5 yrs. Experience implementing Lean and continuous improvement practices and principles
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record


Other Required Qualifications:

 

 

  • Ability to read and interpret prints and drawings
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office software
  • Demonstrated experience improving safety, quality, delivery and cost performance
  • Ability to present effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively with teams
  • Strong oral and written interpersonal skills


Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • Capital process design and project management experience
  • Experience with PCI, CSA, and ISO


Physical Requirements:

 

 

  • Work a variety of shifts
  • Office: Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time
  • Field (periodic) : Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer
  • Plant/Yard (periodic): Move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection


Work Environment:

 

 

  • This position works in an office environment with occasional travel and visits to the plant, yard and field construction sites
  • Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting
  • Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
  • Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways
