The purpose of the Senior Database Administrator is to serve as the expert in the implementation and maintenance of high availability solutions for databases.  This role is also to serve as the expert in administration tasks to monitor performance, maintain databases and implement upgrades as needed, keeping current of changes for security and platform releases.  The role of Senior Database Administrator position is to resolve escalated service issues, coach other administrators to resolutions, and to maintain and oversee complex database environments for the Credit Union. This role would generally have budgetary responsibility for a small size department and decisions would have a minor impact. In addition, the role will work under limited supervision and inspection of work.
With moderate discretion, the primary focus of a Senior Database Administrator is overall data service availability, performance, monitoring, resiliency, emergency response, release management, and architectural scalability.  This role will install and configure new MS SQL servers and manage production environments to ensure high availability, good performance and sufficient capacity.  This position will also perform system support and maintenance functions, develop and maintain standard documentation for system configuration and support, as well as work closely with vendors to complete project tasks and for resolution of issues.  In addition, this position will work closely with System Engineers to ensure all database servers are backed up to meet the business's recovery objectives and test backups to ensure we meet the business' recovery time objectives.  It will also provide direction and guidance to design, integrate and implement systems supporting organizational and systems initiatives.  The problems encountered require proficiency in technique and will require analysis of a wide variety of data.  Finally, the role will require a significant level of trust and diplomacy, which involves much personal contact with others.

* Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
* Experience with Windows and Linux Server environments
* Extensive experience with MS SQL database technologies such as AlwaysOn
* Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Information
Systems or related discipline
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of professional hands-on experience managing database architectures in a
complete IT environment
