The HVAC Piping Detailer is responsible to read and interpret construction drawings to prepare accurate, detailed and compliant shop drawings for HVAC piping pre-fabrication and installation from data supplied by field surveys, mechanical engineered drawings, etc. utilizing a range of Auto Desk software applications including but not limited to AutoCAD MEP 2019, Navis works and Revit.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with AutoCAD MEP and Revit systems creating, modifying and releasing shop drawings for issue to manufacturing and installation.
  • Review project drawings, specifications and Worth & Co. Standards and apply/incorporate prior to issue of shop drawings for manufacturing and installation.
  • Work closely with construction services team to ensure drawings convey correct information.
  • Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, conformance with standards, fits and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with Master Planners, superintendents, CAD and Construction Services teams to provide value engineering and ensure drawing clarity.
  • Identify potential problems with design intent quickly and present cost-effective solutions.
  • Responsible for some design elements for field installation.
  • Field surveys as required for renovation work.
  • Work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, motivated and detail oriented.
  • Report to supervisor on status of work, work load, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in HVAC piping installation and supervision.
  • Certification from a recognized CAD training facility is preferred.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and plumbing systems is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of structural steel and construction as applies to drawing and modelling a building with an emphasis on BIM coordination.
  • Able to manage workload under own initiative and maintain project and fabrication schedules in a fast paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Able to contribute in design review process and offer value engineering solutions and improve job efficiencies.
  • Computer literacy with the company’s software systems including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Formal education/training or relevant hands on experience with Autodesk software systems desired but not essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of blueprint reading.
  • Excellent knowledge of drafting standards.
