Job Summary: Responsible for greeting patients and families upon arrival and for all aspects of registration including entry and verification of patient demographic and insurance information. Schedules patient appointments (non-Emergency Department). Contacts insurance companies to verify medical coverage and pre-certification/referral requirements, if applicable. Educates patients and families regarding financial responsibilities and collects co-pays and/or visit charges. Responsible for all training and awareness of procedural changes and must demonstrate teamwork, flexibility in assignments and serve as a resource for colleagues.

Minimum Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent. Computer literate.

One to two years' experience in a customer service role, hospital setting or a physician registration and insurance verification position.

Proficient keyboarding skills required. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Excellent communication skills, i.e., telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills, and exhibit exemplary customer service principles. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality. Must be self-directed and able to prioritize duties. Must be able to travel between locations and have the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree preferred.

Two years' experience performing registration and insurance verification functions.

Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred.
