The Adult Evening Welding Program offered at Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center is designed to provide training to beginners as well as continuing to further advance already experienced welders working out in the trade. In our instructional program adults will receive technical knowledge and basic safety training on welding and cutting equipment, hydraulic sheers, and air and electric hand tools used out in industry today. In our program you can specialize or learn a combination of welding and cutting operations. Adults will interact with the instructor to gain hands-on experience in a one on one laboratory setting which develops advanced welding skill. All welding equipment and materials are provided. Clothing safety requirements and shop rules will be discussed first class. Program offerings listed below: WELDING 1. Shielded Metal Arc Welding {SMAW} on Carbon Steel - electrodes (6010), (7018), & (7024) all positions. 2. Gas Metal Arc Welding {GMAW} on Carbon Steel all positions. 3. Flux Cored Arc Welding {FCAW} on Carbon Steel all positions. 4. Gas Tungsten Arc Welding {GTAW} on Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum. CUTTING 1. Oxy/Acetylene hand cutting on Carbon Steel – straight, bevel, and hole. 2. Plasma Arc hand cutting on Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum. 3. Carbon Arc Cutting and Gouging on Carbon Steel.

Habilidades y Competencias impartidas:

Certificate of completion will be from the CTC indicating how many hours were completed in the program. This certificate will be the first step in qualifying the student to obtain employment, leading to industry recognized certifications such as AWS and ASME. Career counseling will be provided.
