Description of Training Provider

Program Description

This career tack aligns with skills possessed by many low-wage and at-risk workers, such as home health aides, health care support workers, nursing home aides and service support staff. Peirce College allows you to leverage your experience to earn college credits that map towards a new career in medical coding, and to access the additional skills and credentials you will need for employment in this field. You will be able to demonstrate core competencies, including industry regulations, information management, data integrity, medical classification, procedural codes, revenue cycles and much more. Students who complete the Medical Coding track earn up to 22 stackable credits, including an undergraduate certificate, which apply directly to undergraduate degree programs at Peirce College. Students will be prepared to take AAPC’s Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam, or AHIMA’s Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam which are industry-recognized certifications valued by employers. In addition, Peirce counselors will help you connect with employment opportunities, apply for jobs, prepare for interviews, and leverage the College’s alumni network.

This program offers an accredited credential and industry recognized certification that demonstrates you possess the baseline skills and knowledge for medical coding positions.  The core competencies include the ability to apply policies, regulations and standards to information management, to identify policies and strategies to achieve data integrity, use classification systems, clinical vocabularies, and nomenclatures, to determine compliance of health records content within a health organization, recognize assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes and groupings in accordance with official guidelines, evaluate revenue cycles, evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements and reimbursement methodologies, utilize classification systems, clinical vocabularies and nomenclatures, evaluate assign of diagnostic an procedural codes and group son in accordance with official guidelines.
