Program Description

Graduates of this program will acquire skills necessary to operate a variety of Heavy Equipment used in the construction and transportation industry. They will be certified as Heavy Equipment Operators and will also receive a Class A CDL. Equipment will include Tractor Trailer, dump Truck,Bulldozer,Backhoe,Front Loader, motor Grader,Excavator,Construction Tractor. Also includes Soil Analysis, prints and Site Plans, basic Rigging. Program is offered Full Time Weekdays, Monday through Thursday.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS WITH COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVING 50 Credits 900 Clock Hours - 30 Weeks

OBJECTIVES Graduates of this program will acquire the skills necessary to operate a variety of light/heavy equipment used in the construction and transportation industry. In addition the graduate will be trained to drive a tractor-trailer in order to obtain Class A Commercial Drivers License. Through a mix of theory classes and hands-on practice the graduates of the program will be able to operate a tractor (semi truck) and trailer, fork-truck, dump truck, bulldozer, backhoe, front-loader, motor grader, excavator, tractor and have the ability to maneuver a trailer for the loading and unloading of equipment and materials. These skills are supplemented with print reading, soils and finishing/grading procedures. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates of Heavy Equipment Operations will be qualified for entry-level positions as Tractor-Trailer Drivers, Dump Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators, Grade Helpers and Forklift Operators. EQUIPMENT Students will operate and use the following major pieces of equipment: Tractor-trailer combinations, dump truck, bulldozer, excavator, front-loader, backhoe, grader, tractor and fork-truck.
